This is the bridge of Sorrow, long ago known as the lover’s bridge.  For many eons it was where lovers would meet and so it was quite aptly named.  The name changed however when two lovers who would meet upon this bridge also happened to meet their end upon it.  Much like Romeo and Juliet their love was forbidden and their families sought to destroy what they had.  In the end they did, lives and love lost.  Now the bridge is considered cursed and so lovers visit this place only when their trysts have come to an end, in sorrow.

The first bonfire of the year,

Memory from near and long ago

Of moments spent beneath the twinkling stars

Come carried on the scent of burning wood

The flickering light plays picture slides

In its warm embracing glow

The crackle and snap reminds

Of laughter and kind words

Of moments left behind

The spreading warmth creates

A warm and comforting embrace

Only pleasant thoughts are found here

As the moon shines high above

It is a little bit of magic

Found within this circle of brick

Giving a moment of pause

To brighten even the very

Very darkest of nights.

A Daily Mirror of Encouragment - 100 Word count

They say a picture is worth 1000 words, well how about a mirror? This is my daughters mirror, each of these little pink slips of paper has a word on it.  Each morning she wakes up and sees her reflection and these words starting back at her.  I think I’m raising a pretty smart girl.

Puzzling - 100 Word Picture Prompt

Ok, now what?

No seriously what does one do with a puzzle when it’s complete?

I don’t get the point of puzzles.  It seems contrary to me to work on something for a week just to break it apart. Yet that’s exactly what you do with a puzzle. 

Well there are also the people who glue and frame completed puzzles but that just isn’t for me.  I like my art to be, well….art.

I also can’t see myself doing it again at a later date.  I won’t see anything new doing it a second time.

It’s a rather puzzling hobby…..

Happy New Year

New Years is about to take center stage, the old year slowly shuffling off; exit stage right. 

I will ring out the old and in with the new surrounded by friends and loved ones. Together we will sing the first few lines of Auld Lang Syne until the combination of a rarely sung song fueled by sparkly drinks leaves us all in tears of laughter.  We will wear paper cracker hats we will smile and celebrate not only the good times we have had but that the bad times of the year have past.  

Another year of endless possibility waits.  

A Quiet Merry Christmas Wish

For the past few years someone has walked along the paths in the forest placing a few red Christmas bows on the trees.  I suppose they are some ones way of wishing everyone who walks along the forest paths a Merry Christmas.

This is the true meaning of Christmas to wish everyone not just those who are near and dear a happy holiday season but to everyone who may pass.  It is the season to think of others and these little bows show that someone is.  I hope the person who places these bows has a very Merry Christmas too.

Puzzling

When I was a little girl I found a puzzle made out of a wire hanger which had been shaped into two joined hearts.  I’ve loved any type of mechanical or wire puzzle ever since. There is something quite satisfying in having discovered the simple little trick at the heart of these types of puzzles.

I figured that one out quickly however the most famous mechanical puzzle of all has always left me stymied.  More than 20 years after having seen one for the first time I finally got the trick.  

Now to see if I can do it again.
