Picture day

Really cat? My husband and I have the habit of watching a bit of tv before going to sleep at night.  After wall mounting the tv in what seems to be the perfect spot to watch a show in comfort this is often my view.  Add in now not one but two dogs, one on each side of me and our bed no longer seems to be such a comfy place to watch a show at the end of the day.

What is with the cat, she will not leave me alone for anything today.  Everything I do today I’m being tripped up or annoyed. I swear she is trying to kill me.

Only on a day that I have a loadful of laundry in my arms does she decide the first step to the basement is the perfect spot to sleep in.  Of course I get an evil look when she trips me up and I disturb her sleep. Never mind the fact that the laundry I was carrying in a nice neat basket is now spread out from the top of the stairs to the foot from being tossed away in an attempt to keep myself right side up.

Now trying to sit for a few minutes and write my blog I’m finding it quite useful that I’m a decent typist and can type without looking at my fingers. The cat is desperately trying to get my attention by being between me and the keyboard.  Thank goodness for spell check although thanks to all the kitty additions even it may get stumped a few times.  Lots of added bottom row letters, never mind all the extra spacing.  Little paw prints if you will.
Scooter

Lucy is E's cat and she is exactly what I wanted in a cat for E so I can’t really complain too much. I wanted her to have a cat like the one I had when I was growing up, she was a great cat with an attitude you would more often associate with a dog. Loving and loyal, I was the most important thing in her world much as E is now to lucy. The picture to the right is one of the last ones of her taken shortly before her death at 22 years old. My hope is that lucy will have as long a life as scooter did.

E picked out Lucy from a farm litter as a 9th birthday present.  She was the runt of the litter and was the teeniest little thing you could imagine at only 6 weeks old. She was so small we worried about her getting stuck in some small space and wanted to make certain the dog who was very excited to have a play mate didn't accidentally smush her.  So the first few weeks she was sequestered away in E’s room or carried around in her arms which is very similar to when I got scooter and may be why they are/were both such good pets.

However I still hope she finds something else to do soon or goes take a nap, so I can get some work done. oh and preferably anywhere other than on the stairs.

Yuck!

I have recently begun to notice a very odd thing while walking the dog in the forest. Someone is picking up their dog business and instead of bringing the bag with them and throwing it out like normal people they are hanging the bags from trees. Who in their right mind thinks this is a good idea or any better than not scooping at all.  If anything I’d say it is worse, now rather than just #2 left on the ground it’s swinging from a tree in a plastic bag.  Ewww
Alas I do believe I have discovered the culprit. I saw him with his dog this morning leaving the trail just as I was leaving the house and lo and behold a new bag had appeared.  I suspect it was him as the bag was still swinging on the branch and the bags only appear about once a week which is also about how often he walks the dog.  I’m thinking about attaching a note next to the swinging bag of dog dodo.  I’m not sure it would do any good or what I would write but these bags are starting to add up and it’s nasty. There is nothing like spending a nice morning walk gagging every few feet.
The prime suspect is a certain neighbor that I would expect this type of thing from.  They only got their dog last spring as a pup and they don’t seem to take much interest in her.  Rather than supervising her or using a rope to keep her on their property they allow her to run around the neighboring yards using them as a bathroom and play space.  Eventually when they think she should come home they activate a shock collar as their way of calling her.  It is clearly painful, she cowers and yelps and becomes suspicious of anyone around her, as if they are the ones hurting her. She has even snapped at me when it has gone off while trying to drag her out of our yard and it won’t surprise me if she ends up biting someone because of the collar. I think it’s inhumane and it certainly doesn’t seem effective.
I can’t help but feel sorry for this dog it isn’t her fault she hasn’t been trained.  Any faults with a dog or its leavings for that matter is the fault of the owners.  I suspect I’m going to end up picking up all these bags myself and throwing them out but I’m going to try the note thing first.  I doubt it will work if it is who I suspect as they have proven many times over to be rather inconsiderate people with a stick up their you know what.  I’ll try though because for some reason the thought of picking up someone else’s dog bag really grosses me out.
