I am a creature of routine and schedule, my day from the moment I get up varies very little. In fact my morning routine is so set that I could go through it half asleep, which is good because prior to coffee I usually am half asleep but I digress.
I’ve been feeling a little bit too routine lately sort of stuck in a rut. With the advent of another summer soccer season about to begin and day after day of soccer, soccer and more soccer, followed by you guessed it more soccer I won’t have time to be spontaneous. During those two intense months when both girls are constantly at play or practice scheduling is not optional.
So……..yeah.
Ok so now I have identified something I’d like to change what shall I do about it? Well the simplest answer seems to be throw out the schedule for a while. Now while that may be the simplest answer the thought of going totally off schedule gives me heart palpatations.….and we want to avoid those.
It is in my nature to be routine and that’s fine, I am who I am, that isn’t something I want or should try to change. Hrmmmm all right so rather than completely go off schedule which as discussed is not a good idea, you know the whole palpatations thingy and besides it just wouldn’t work, I’m going to simply try and do the things I normally have to get done a little bit differently or add a little twist.
Not sure yet on the specifics of what changes I can try out but I’ve got a few basic ideas of things I can do without blowing the whole scheduled thing to kingdom come. I’m just going to try to be spontaneous about it all.
I think the best idea is to try something new every day and I will try my best not to schedule it into a specific time to do said new thing each day. 1:45 try to do something new! Yeah that totally kills the whole spontaneity of the thing doesn’t it?
So I’m going to have breakfast on the deck (when it stops raining) go dancing in the rain, skip with my girls, read a book of a genre I normally wouldn’t, wear something totally inappropriate, and try to find a bit of fun in even the simplest of tasks.
